THE STORY AS I KNOW IT

With the Brockman family we are reaching as far back as the 14th century. William Everett Brockman has written A Genealogical chart of the Brockmans. The story needs confirmation. An English book Kent Parish Records, Newington Marriages lists at least four Brockmans from a period of 1566 to 1623. They are in the place and at the time William E. Brockman asserts. One of the four matches the genealogical data exact. The others are other sons not connected to our line.

William Brokeman was born about 1415 probably at Manor of Pierrie in Essex on land granted to his father John Brockman by Richard II. His mother is unknown.

William wed Elizabeth Fryer about 1445. Her mother had inherited Powers Hall from her first husband. The house evidentially went to William and Elizabeth Brockman. The Manor of Powers Hall was located in Witham Essex and was still standing in 1955. Perhaps it still does. Pictures of both the Manor of Pierrie and Powers Hall are contained in the W. E. Brockman book. The manor of Pierrie may have been in Bocking, Essex. There are online genealogical sources that state William was born in Bocking. One source said Bocking Parish, Baintree. The book does not specify.

The only known child of William and Elizabeth was John Brokeman, born about 1445 at Powers Hall.

It is not known when or where William or Elizabeth died, nor where they are buried.
