MARGERY BALL
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT
Margery Ball
was born in Hurst, Berkshires, England
and christened Jan 27, 1634/5. Her father was Rafe Ball, mother
unknown. from Hurst
Berkshire Parish Registers, 1622-1641 film number
1279460.
There were numerous Balls in and near Hurst in
the 17th century. George Ball and Rafe Ball
both married women named Margery. However,
the children of George came too late for them to
be our Margery, re her marriage date. So the
accepted data is that Margery
Ball, born 1634 in Ruscombe, Berkshires to
parents Rafe Ball and Margery Crockford Ball
is the one that I accept for now. I would like
marraige documentation. Ruscombe and Hurst are only a few miles
apart just southwest of Maidenhead. The
Ball family probably had multiple children with the
same name scattered around Berkshires. The Pedegree of Passmore of
Bray follow the George Ball line.
Margery Ball
married William Passmore,
it is said in Hurst, but the record is not in the Hurst Berkshire Parish
Registers. It could well be missing as are
all marriage records from 1610 - 1633. The date usually
given is Jan 6, 1654. This is from the Pedegree of Passmore of
Bray.
They had one known child:
William Passmore,
born 1655
It is believed that Margery
Ball Passmore died in 1698, but I have no idea
where that came from. Not the Hurst parish Registers. All
that can be said for sure is that she died after
1655. It is not known when William Passmore, her
husband died.
