THE STORY AS I KNOW IT

Hester Brown was born Jan 1608/9 in Cheshire England.  Her parents are unknown.

She wed James Vernon of a leading family in Cheshire in July 1636.

They had at least 3 sons, Randal, Robert and Thomas who became Quaker and immigrated to Pennsylvania together in 1682.  The other children apparently did not.
They were:
1.  Randal Vernon born 1640 in Sandyway, wed Sarah.  He died in 1725
2.  Robert Vernon, born Jan 1 1642 in Action Stroke, wed Elinor.  He died after 1710
3.  Richard Vernon, born 1643
4.  Thomas Vernon, born1644 in Stanthorne, wed Elizabeth.  He died in 1698.
5.  Daniel Vernon, born about 1646 in Sandyway in parish of Weaversham.
6.  William Vernon, born 1648
7.  Lewton Vernon born 1650

Stanthorne is a small village is just west of Middlewich and east of Chester. Sandiway is a bit further west yet, near Cuddington.  I cannot find Actin Stroke.  Nor can I understand why so many different places are given as place of birth.  The Vernons were a substantial family, but did they really have 3 homes within close proximity?

Hester Brown Vernon died April 1, 1675 before her sons had left the country.  There was a note in the margin of the Chester Death Register that stated she died on that date and was buried the same day.
