EDWARD BEESON ii
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT
Edward Beeson was born in 1683 to Edward Beeson
I and Esther Hall. His parents had recently
Immigrated end of June 1683 from England. They first
settled in New Castle County, which was in one of the lower
3 counties of Pennsylvania, later to become Delaware.
The family were Quaker.
Edward married Esther Hall at Newark Monthly
Meeting October 1704. The Newark MM was north of the
Brandywine and not near the town of Newark.
On Jan 7, 1709/10 his father, Edward Beeson I conveyed
by deed 260 acres in Brandywine Hundred near Treedy Hook to his
son, Edward Beeson II. The Property became known as Old
Herring Rocks, today Bellefonte. Beeson
Rd is the northern boundary of the old homestead. The
original track included parts of what is now Bellevue State
Park.
Edward and Esther Beeson had five known childen:
1. Edward Beeson III, born 1705 and died 1746
2. Thomas Beeson - born 1707 he moved to North
Carolina, died 1764
3. Benjamin Beeson, wed Elizabeth
Pohlson, died 1750
4. John Beeson - said to be youngest son, born Jan
2, 1709/1710, wed Alice Martin 1732 (re Early church
Records of Chester Ct PA)
5. Hannah
Beeson - born 1713, wed Joseph Gregg, died 1773
6. Esther or Elizabeth Beeson - possibly may have
died as an infant.
In 1725 Edward died, age 45. Esther
married a 2nd time in 1730 and a 3rd time in 1733. from
