ANNA BARBARA ENSINGER

THE STORY AS I KNOW IT

Anna Barbara Ensinger was born about 1795 probably in Bessingen, Wurttemberg, Germany. A Maier Genealogy was written in the 1930's while a family member was living in Germany. However, I also have a copy of the Protestant church records of Bissingen microfilmed by the LDS library. The handwriting is in old German and the spelling varies but the detail matches what had been discovered in the 1930s.

Anna Barbara married Daniel Gienger about 1815.and the only child known for sure is Barbara Gienger born March 25 1819. This is all from the Marriage record of Barbara Gienger to Johann Christian Maier in 1843, found in FHL film 1055842 of Bissingen an der Teck church records.  The church records states the birth dates of bride and groom and their parents birth names as well as when and where the marriage took place.

In the area around Stuttgart, there are 3 towns that could fit the name "Bissingen". They are Bissingen, Bisingen, and Bissingen an der Teck. After a careful study of the 1930's document we believe it is the Bissingen an der Teck. This village is south east of Stuttgart.

Nothing more is known about this specific family.

There were other Ensinger church records found in the few pages we have. In 1749 Johann Jacob Ensinger, son of Adam Ensinger married Susanna daughter of Michael Staiben.

Then in 1751 George Christoph Lay, son of Johann Georg Lay married Christian Rosina Ensinger daughter of Johann Jacob Ensinger. The two Johann Jacob may be the same man or related in someway.

The Maier Genealogy also contains an Anna Barbara Ensinger. It states she was born October 28 1801 in Brucken, Wurtttemberg, married Johann Jakob Maier May 6, 1823 and died October 7, 1861 in Bissingen an der Tech. The relationship between the two women is unknown.
