AGNES STEINER
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT.
Agnes Steiner was born about 1650. It is not known
where she was born but it was probably in or near Bissingen an der
Tech, Wurttenberg Germany. Her father was Caspar Steiner. This is recorded in Bissingen an der Teck, Donaukreis,
Wuerttemberg Collection: Lutherisch when she wed.
The LDS library has a microfilm of the church records in
Bissingen, FHL Film 1055840.
It dates back to 1585. The German scrip is very hard to read and of
course it is in German. We can scan the piece so you can attempt to see
it also. Just click under Contact Us with the request. I now have a
printout from the LDS set on CD of
Western European Church Records that is easy to read. The
data in this story comes from that set.
Agnes married Leonard Holpp
on Sept 7, 1675
in Bissingen an der Tech.
Birth records for Bissingen an der Tech did not begin until
1680. So any children born between 1675 and 1680 are not known
We know they had the following children. All christened in the
Lutheran church in the village.:
1. Andreas Holpp, born
1680
2. Agnes Holpp, born 1682
3. Leonhart
Holpp II, born July
14, 1685. He was christened the next day July 15.
4. Anna Maria Holpp, born
1688
5. Anna Catharina Holpp,
born 1690
There is probably much more information to be found on the
microfilm with a careful reading. When the recorder wrote the names
usually an in was added to the woman's name i.e. Anna Barbara Holppin.
The "in" is added to most names signifying the female.
I have no record of when either
Leonhart or Agnes Holpp died. But it would have been after
1690
