Leonhardt HOLPP
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT.
Leonhardt Holpp was born July 14, 1685 and christened the
next day in Bissingen an der
Tech, Wurttenberg Germany. His parents were Leonhard
Holpp
and Agnes Steiner. This is
recorded in Bissingen an der Teck,
Donaukreis,
Wuerttemberg Collection: Lutherisch
The LDS library has a microfilm of the church records in
Bissingen, FHL Film 1055840.
It dates back to 1585. The German scrip is very hard to read
and of course it is in German. We can scan the piece so you can attempt
to see it also. Just click under Contact Us with the request. I now
have a printout from the LDS set on
CD of Western European Church Records that is easy to
read. The data in this story comes from that set.
Leonhard married Anna Maria Baur on Dec. 1,
1710 in
Bissingen an der Tech. Ten children are listed in the church
records All born in Bissingen an der Tech. The spellings
are as in the records:
1. Anna Maria Hollp born
1711
2. Johannes Hollp,
born 1713
3. Hanss Georg Holp, born
1716
4. Anna Catharina Holp,
born
1717
5. Hanss Georg Holp, born
1718, the #3 child must have died.
6. Andreas
Holpp, born 1720
7. Anna Barbara Holpp,
born 1722 with twin
8. Anna Catharina Holpp,
born 1722, the #4 child must have died.
9. Elisabetha Catharina Holpp,
born
1727
10. Maria Agnes Holpp, born
1731
The Holpp family are listed
in the church records of Bissingen an der Tech from 1581.
They were probably there even before that.
There is probably much more information to be found on the
microfilm with a careful reading. When the recorder wrote the names
usually an in was added to the woman's name i.e. Anna Barbara Holppin.
The "in" is added to most names signifying the female.
I have no record of when either Leonhardt or Anna Maria died.
But
it would have been after 1731.
