THOMAS BLACKMAN
Thomas Blackman was born about 1660
probably in England, but to date we don't know exactly
where. There was a Thomas Blackman in
Colonial Maryland, St. Mary's County . he was a
witness 1708 on a will for John Aboll. He
was probably there well before that time, but many
colonial records of St. Mary's were lost in fire.
It is believed that he married Anne, possibly
daughter of Benjamin Stevens. It is not
known whether in Maryland or England Her mother,
Lettice Stevens is listed as being imported in
1671. It is believed that Anne was born
about 1670. The New Early Settlers of Maryland
by Dr. Carson Gibb, MSA SC 4341: Gibb collection,
updated in 2005.
His parents are unknown.
Re page 528, Maryland Account Records 1739-1744,
Ann Blackman acting as Administrator for
Thomas Blackman, St. Mary's County, The Accounting
was presented on March 19, 1739. In the Record is
listed Thomas' orphans: Thomas, William and
Mary.
That information provides the following
supposition:
Ann and Thomas Blackman had the following known
children:
1. Thomas Blackman
2. William Blackman
3. Mary Blackman
Birth dates are not know, but it is assumed the "orphans"
were all adults at the time of their Dad's death. It is
believed that he died in 1737. Where he is buried is
not known.
