AGNES MERCKHLIN
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT
Agnes Merckhlin was born about 1655 in
Bissingen an der Teck, Wuertemberg German. Her parents were
Georg Merckh and Rosina Nagelen. This is from
Family History
Library Film
1055843 Dates: 1612 - 1774 on marriages in this
village. The German names often add an "en or in" to the
ending of the family surname. I assume to denote female
versus male.
Agnes married Hanss Jacob Baur on Nov. 2,
1675. It was the first marriage for both of
them. The marriage records names the father of bride
and groom, but only for their first marriage. After
that they simple say "previously married".
I could not find birth records recorded before
1680. So there is very likely a couple of children
unidentified at this time. However, we do know of 3 children
of
Agnes and Hanss Jacob Baur.
They were all born in Bissingen an der Teck. They are:
1. Hans Georg Baur born 1681
2. Hans Cunrod Baur born 1686
3. Anna Maria Baur born Jan 19, 1688
christened the next day from FHL Film 1055840. She
married Leonhardt Holpp.
In the area around Stuttgart, there are 3 towns that could fit the name "Bissingen". They are Bissingen, Bisingen, and Bissingen an der Teck. After a careful study of the 1930's document we believe it is the Bissingen an der Teck. Close by there is a Dettingen unter Teck. These villages are south east of Stuttgart.
Nothing more is known of Agnes Merckhlin Baur.
I've not ever seen the name Bauren, so I must not
understand when the en is added.
