ANNA CATHARINA WALZ
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT.
Anna Catharina Walz was bornJan 17, 1715 in Bissingen
an
der
Tech, Wurttenberg Germany. Her parents were Ludwig and Susanna Walz. Her
mother's maiden name is unknown.
The families had lived in this small town for hundreds of years. In the area around Stuttgart, there are 3 towns that could fit the name "Bissingen". They are Bissingen, Bisingen, and Bissingen an der Teck. After a careful study of the 1930's document we believe it is the Bissingen an der Teck. This village is south east of Stuttgart
The LDS library has a
microfilm of the Lutheran
church in Bissingen.
All the information here comes from this document. Reading the old
German scrip is a challenge. We can scan the piece so you can attempt
to see it also. Just click under Contact Us with the request. One
wonderful form has the family record. It includes the birth and death
date of the bride and groom, their parents, and all their children with
birth , confirmation and death. There is also a Compliation of Church Records -Western
European It is searchable by name and it is all printed out for
you. My copies of the original church records concurs with the
CD. It is put out by LDS.

Jan 27, 1739 Johann
Georg
Kaufmann married Anna
Catharina
Walz
Their children were
Cyriacus Kauffman wed March
1773, can't read brides name. but he is listed as son of Georg
Kauffmann He is not on the LDS CD but his birthdate would
be
right.
also, it is a long time from a wedding in 1739 and the birth of
the first child on the CD list, so I think there are some not recorded.
On the LDS CD with father Johann
George and mother Anna
Catharina
Kauffmann are:
1. Johann Cunrad Kauffmann,
born
1748
2. Anna Catharina Kauffmann,
born
1750
3. Johann Georg Kaufmann Jr.born
1752, died Oct 15,
1824. He wed Maria Barbra Holpp.
4. Anna MariaKauffmann,
born 1754
5. Anna Maria Kauffmann,
born 1765 No death records are included
in the Kauffmann material, but this certainly implies that the first
Anna Maria died. It is a
long gap between births in the days of
no birth control.
It is not known when either Johann
Georg or his wife Anna
Catharina
died.
