THE STORY AS I KNOW IT

William Passmore II was born 1655 Hurst, Berkshire to Margery Ball and William Passmore

for some reason this story is hard to nail down.  Maybe there were too many William Passmore's in the Berkshire/Wiltshire area. Bits I know.

From The Ancestry of the Passmore Sisters of Nottingham there is a suggestion from a family tree in Ancestry that William Passmore wed Mary Bye.  But without documentation and the list  of children made no sense.

There is an assertion on Family Search that says his parents married on Jan 6, 1654/55.  So that would fit with William II being the eldest child of the family.   But again no documentation.

There is in Find a Grave a William Pasmore buried in the Quaker Burial Ground in Reading, who died Nov. 17, 1730.    And from the Pergorative court of Canterbury Wills 1384 - 1858 a probate for William Passmore that was before the court March 10, 1731.   That is very likely the same William Passmore.   To nail this detail from England & Wales, Quaker Birth, Marriage and Death Registers, page 277,   "William Pasmore of Hurst (in that part which lieth in ye County of Wilts) departed this life he 17th of ye 9th m:1730 and was buryed ye 20th of ye same in ye new burying ground in Reading Aforst"  I do not know that the last word means?? but I can accept that this is our William, a Quaker from Hurst.

Here's what I think,   William and Margery Passmore were the ancestors of the Quaker Passmore's who migrated to America about 1710.   The original immigrant was John Passmore.   Some consider him the son of William and Margery, but the parents would have been mid- forty's when he would have been born.  Not impossible, but there could have been a generation that has been missed, ie our William Passmore and Mary Bye.  I can't prove it, but then I have no documentation that connects John to William and Margery either.
