Francis Mann was born about 1728 in Amelia County, Virginia. Hir parents were Francis Mann Sr. and Elizabeth Page. This and other Mann information is from the Ancestral File. We will work to confirm all data from other sources.

Obedience was born 1732 in Virginia. Her maiden name and parents are unknown.

Francis married Obedience about 1747. They were married in southern Virginia. Their children were:

1. Joseph Mann born about 1748
2. Beverly Mann born about 1750. He wed Mary Thankful Alice Caldwell. He died in Mercer County KY after 1781.
3. Dicey Mann born Sept 3, 1753 wed John Caldwell. She died Feb. 27, 1785 in Mercer Cy KY
4. Phoebe Mann born about 1755. She wed David Varna Caldwell.
5. Elizabeth (Betsy) Mann born 1759 - died in Boyle County KY 1844.
6. Francis Mann born 1761.

 The Family History, Caldwell shows the close connection of the Caldwell and Mann families, three sets of siblings married. David Varna Caldwell married Phoebe Mann. John Caldwell married Dicey Mann, and his sister Mary Thankful Alice Caldwell married Beverly Mann, brother to Phoebe and Dicey. It is probable that all these weddings took place in Virginia.

Francis died in 1782. The children all moved to Kentucky in the 1780s. Perhaps Obedience did also.

Although nothing further is known of this family the close connection to the Caldwell family gives us some suggestions. They were probably educated Presbyterians.
