THOMAS YATES WALSH
THE STORY AS I KNOW IT.
Thomas Yates Walsh was born in Nov. 1849 in Baltimore. His family was listed on the Baltimore 1850 Census in the 18th Ward. He was shown as "Yates - 1 year old born Maryland". His parents are listed on that Census as being William H. Walsh, clerk, age 29 born Maryland and Ann (Conradt) age 23 also born in Maryland. They were living with her parents Christian Gottlieb Conradt and Emily (Mills Hughes).
The Croyeau Family Bible lists the marriages of T.
Yates Walsh to Nannie A.
Croyeau on January 21, 1879. It was also
in the Baltimore sun
Jan 27, 1879.

The 1880 Baltimore Census states T. Yates Walsh, age 32, Nannie A. age 27, and Emily 9 months old. All were born in Maryland and at this time they lived with Nannie's parents Augustine and Phoebe Croyeau.
The Baltimore City Directory 1880 lists T. Yates Walsh at 68 Edmonson Ave, Clerk. The 1900 Directory just gave his address at 8 N. Calhoun St. No occupation was listed.
The 1900 Census shows the family lived at 8 N.
Calhoun St. They were:
Thomas Y. Walsh born Nov. 1849,
Nana A. born Dec 1854
Emilie Y(ates) . born Aug.
1879
Nana born June 1882
Ethel born March 1888..
At the time of Emilie's wedding, 1904 the family was living at 8 North Calhoun Street. The 1920 Census lists Thomas Y. Walsh age 71, Nannie A. also 71, Ethel age 30. They continued on Calhoun St. until 1934. It is near Franklin Square, a pretty neighborhood on a hill just west of downtown. Ethel and her husband and child were living there at that time.
The Baltimore Sun, issue of Tuesday, November 19, 1929 noted under "Deaths - On November 18, 1929, Thomas Yates Walsh. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at his home. 8 North Calhoun Street on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock (Interment private)"
He was buried along side his wife in Greenmount
Cemetery in the Croyeau Plot. His stone simply reads
"T. YATES WALSH "
